Meet our team: Ms. Anne

Meet Anne Hiatt, one of our Young Explorer (2.5 – 3.5   year old) classroom educators and a Mentor Teacher. She has over 20 years of experience teaching children of varying ages and has experience in the public school system. She was specifically trained in the Reggio Emilia Curriculum at St. John’s Episcopal Preschool in Washington, DC. Anne has a bachelor’s degree in Art and utilizes her background in the classroom to inspire her students’ creativity. She believes all children deserve to have a loving and safe educational environment to learn, grow, and play. Anne is coming up on her first year anniversary working at our center and we’re so pleased that she’s on our team!

Why do you like working with our Young Explorers?

They are at an age of building their characters, displaying their curiosity, growing their independence, discovering their own identity, etc. Young explorers in an important growth time in their life. I love planting the seeds of learning in them!

What’s your favorite time of the day at the center?

Outdoor Classroom time! The children learn and grow so much when they are out in nature and are playing.

What does it mean to you to be a Mentor Teacher?

It means sharing my ideas and prior learning with others. We assist each other, and provide an environment for reflection.

What do you like to do when you aren’t at King’s Daughters?

We love to take the boat out to the lake and watch my girl tubing and playing on the rope swings. I like to listen to piano music and hang out on the water, practicing Yoga, and taking walks.

Tell us about your family!

I’ve been married for 24 years to my best friend Scott. We have two children, our 22-year-old son Joshua, and our 15-year-old daughter Hailey. We are so blessed with our children! Our son graduated from University of Arkansas, and is currently completing his MBA at John Brown University. Hailey attends Merrol Hyde Magnet School, and lives at home with us in Hendersonville.
