“Learn to light a candle in the darkest moments of someone’s life. Be the light that helps others see; it is what gives life its deepest significance.” ― Roy T. Bennett, author of The Light in the Heart

For the very first time, The King’s Daughters Child Development Center will be hosting a Lantern Walk to “Light the Way” for our children, their families and the community.

The inspiration for this event was born from the idea of lighting the path for the children that we care for, even when the world around them is dark. We have planned it at a time when they will see that the weather is changing; the heat will fade, and our days will be shorter, with less light from the sun. This seasonal change is an excellent metaphor for the inevitable changes that will occur in life, no matter what your age. As we recognize that, we want to teach our children that they can still be a light, in their lives and the lives of others, even during the darkest times.

We know what you might be thinking – that concept is a little heavy. We get it! But don’t misunderstand, this will not be a somber event. This will be an experience your family will not soon forget – you will have the ability to make lanterns (or you can bring your own), walk together on the track at the Madison Community Center and enjoy a few fun ‘stops’ along the way (details coming soon!), then enjoy some seasonal refreshments and live music from our special guest, Carlene Carter!

This event is open to our King’s Daughters families and to the community, so please share with your friends and family! We ask that you consider making a donation to help us continue to nurture children in an engaging learning community, regardless of income.
$5 per person | $20 per family (Cash or check only at event)
