This winter we asked the community to support our efforts through a virtual fundraiser: Brackets for Good. In online efforts like this, we depend on you – our supporters! – to spread the word about our service to the community to grow our friends and financial supporters.
Thanks to leadership efforts from Laura Bilbrey, a past volunteer board member, we raised a net total of just over $9,000! We recently used these funds (added to a generous donation from a local funder), to refloor our 50+ year old building’s hallways, community space, and entryway!
Brackets for Good is a nationwide fundraiser that uses the theme and competitive spirit of the NCAA basketball tournament for raising funds for local organizations. Unfortunately, we didn’t make it past our first round in the fundraising tournament – competition was fierce this year and our first competitor, Park Center, came in with a last minute donation that took us out of the running. They eventually went on to win the Nashville tournament and, while we hated to be pitted against them in our first round, we’re happy for their success and so appreciate the funds we raised through this effort!
We raised more money this year during the tournament than we did last year – especially thanks to donations from local philanthropists who let their competitive spirit drive the campaign! Thank YOU!
