King’s Daughters is blessed by many people in our community and we’re delighted to shine the spotlight on the work of our volunteers in this series of posts. We are inspired and incredibly honored to have such a compassionate and enthusiastic team of people who support our efforts and the children we serve!

Our current Board Chair, Jenny Hall, is the mother of one of our ‘graduates’ and an attorney and owner of the Adoption Law Center of Middle Tennessee. We are so grateful for her service in the boardroom as well as in the classroom as a reader to our children and working behind the scenes on physical labor projects to make sure our center shines! She and her husband, who has also donated his time to help King’s Daughters, are the proud parents of two boys, ages 10 and 7.

What do you love about King’s Daughters? The teachers are really amazing! They make the kids feel welcome and safe, and work so hard to listen to the children so they can engage them in learning about their world.

I used to love picking up my son and seeing everything they did that day!  Sometimes they had built a robot out of cardboard or learned to make potholders or worked on puzzles or had a ballet company come visit.  He usually did not want to leave.  It made me feel so good that he was somewhere he felt so comfortable, that he was disappointed when his mom came to pick him up!

Tell us about your day job.  Adoptions are my passion, and I love getting to know the families I work with and learning a little about their journey.

What do you like to do outside of your job and volunteer work? Hiking and spending time outdoors with my family.

Why do you support King’s Daughters with your time and talents?   I think kids living in poverty deserve to spend their days being nurtured socially, emotionally, and spiritually.  They also deserve to be engaged and challenged through the curriculum.  This exposure shows them that there are paths to success.  KDCDC does such a great job at preparing kids for kindergarten.  It’s so important for at-risk kids to have confidence in their abilities and the problem-solving skills to resolve conflict and complete tasks.
