2016/17 by the numbers
It’s hard to believe 2016/17 is over and we’ll be welcoming our families back to the center on August 7th to start the next school year. Looking back, we are so proud of these statistics from the past year:
- 100% of children entering Kindergarten in 2017 met or exceeded national benchmarks on the Get Ready to Read assessment-25 literacy-based questions.
- 91% of the children entering Kindergarten in 2016 met 6 personalized and developmentally appropriate HELP (Hawaiian Early Learning Profile) goals per quarter–social/emotional, self-help, cognitive, physical, and communication.
- All of our infants and toddlers have demonstrated developmentally appropriate growth and all are reaching their age-range milestones as assessed by Frogstreet Infant/Toddler trackers for measuring Cognitive, Social/Emotional, Physical, and Language Development.
- We hosted 6 parent workshops and 14 family events
- Served over 34,065 meals to fill little bellies
- Provided over 5000 pieces of construction paper to capture thoughts anddreams
- Used over 50 gallons of assorted paints tempera, water colors, dot paintto express feelings, create, and explore
- Over 200 containers of playdough used (and that’s not counting thehomemade playdough made here!)
- Our older children spent at least 11.25 hours outside each week and our toddlers spent at least 7.5 hours outside exploring
- 37 dragon/serpents slain, 15,787 books read, 43,503 songs and poems sang, 93 successful babydoll operations, and 1,390 block towers built and knocked down ((Actually, we weren’t keeping count, but come take a peek anytime and you’ll see our wonderful young children’s joy as their imaginations are ignited!))
We wish our 23 children and their families leaving us for Kindergarten so much success. Please keep in touch with us – we were especially delighted to hear from a former family and hear of our impact on one little boy. Like him, you are prepared and you will achieve the highest heights!
With love,
Ms. Candyee |
